Lip Chronomètre

Created in 1933 and manufactured until 1949, Caliber T18 was by far the most successful Lip movement. It powers dozens of rectangular, tonneau and square models with gold, gold-plated, silver, stainless steel, nickel and nickel silver cases. All of them feature a dust-cover between the caseback and the movement. The T18 was so popular and well designed that it served as a model for the students attending the Besançon watchmaking school - they were required to hand-manufacture its parts as a test of their skills. Three examples are known to have been fitted with a tourbillon. As the "Chronomètre" wording on its dial suggests, this watch is fitted with an enhanced version of the standard T18, featuring 17 jewels rather than 15.

Creato nel 1933 e fabbricato fino al 1949, il Calibro T18 fu di gran lunga il movimento Lip di maggiore successo. Lo troviamo in decine di modelli rettangolari, tonneau e quadrati con casse d'oro, placcate oro, argento, acciaio, nickel e argentone. In ciascuno di essi c'è una calotta antipolvere inserita fra il fondo cassa e il movimento. Il T18 era così popolare e ben concepito che servì da modello per gli allievi della scuola d'orologeria di Besançon, ai quali  si chiedeva di fabbricarne manualmente i pezzi come prova delle loro capacità. Si ha notizia di tre esemplari di questo movimento equipaggiati con un tourbillon. Come suggerisce l'iscrizione "Chronomètre" sul quadrante, questo orologio monta una versione migliorata del T18 standard, con 17 rubini invece di 15.
