Vintage timepieces - Fidea chronograph (1930s)

ENGLISH

Wuilleumier, Baumann et Cie. from Tramelan registered the Fidea trademark and subsequently sold it to Nicolet Watch, another company located in Tramelan. This monopusher chronograph dating back to the early 1930s is fitted with a column-wheel caliber by the raw movement manufacturer Landeron. Its enamel dial features an outer telemeter scale and a spiral-shaped tachymeter scale, as well as the attractive Breguet numerals and hands.
Functions Hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph with 30-minute register.
Size Diameter 39 mm, thickness 12 mm.
Case Stainless steel, snap-on back.
Movement Caliber Landeron, diameter 35 mm, thickness 6.25 mm, 17 jewels, monometallic screw balance, flat hairspring, 18,000 vibrations per hour.

ITALIANO 

Wuilleumier, Baumann et Cie. di Tramelan, registrò il marchio Fidea e in seguito lo cedette a Nicolet Watch, un'altra ditta di Tramelan. Questo cronografo monopulsante dei primi Anni 30 è animato da un calibro con ruota a colonne prodotto dallo specialista Landeron. Il quadrante smaltato presenta una scala telemetrica esterna e una tachimetrica a spirale, oltre agli attraenti indici e lancette Breguet.

Powered by Caliber SXH5, a three hander self-winding micro-rotor movement, the Antarctique features a hand-decorated lamé dial, an integrated stainless steel bracelet with Czapek “Easy Release” system, and a 40.5 mm water resistant case with sapphire case back and screw-down crown.

Rolex Precision

Nicknamed the UFO by collectors due to its flat and circular shape, this Ref. 9083 Precision-grade timepiece features a honeycomb dial and an unusual integrated Oyster bracelet. It was introduced exclusively for the British market in 1956 and only produced for a few years.

It is fitted with Caliber 1210. Production of the latter started in 1954 and included a higher quality version, meant for chronometer-grade timepieces. The picture at the bottom of the page shows this same watch above the 1945 Jubilee catalog.

Soprannominato UFO dai collezionisti per la sua forma piatta e circolare, questo Precision Ref. 9083 ha un quadrante decorato a nido d’ape e un insolito bracciale Oyster integrato. Fu creato per il mercato britannico nel 1956 e prodotto per pochi anni. Al suo interno c'è il Calibro 1210, creato nel 1954 e disponibile anche in una versione di qualità superiore, destinata ai modelli con certificazione cronometrica. L'immagine in fondo alla pagina mostra questo stesso esemplare sopra il catalogo del "Giubileo" (1945).

New releases - Hermès Arceau Squelette

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the round case with asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs now frames a smoked sapphire crystal dial. Its centre reveals the self-winding movement with the anthracite wheels and openwork oscillating weight. The cut-out numerals and Hermès signature appear to be levitating.
