The Rado Diastar is 'a revolutionary watch in the top Swiss quality' and 'a creation in world exclusivity with unbeatable features'. It is 'the only scratchproof watch in the world', 'the only super-waterproof watch in the world with sapphire crystal' and 'the only watch in the world that preserves its eternal shining beauty'. Launched in 1962, the Diastar featured a bulky and highly polished case in tungsten carbide, a material mainly used for the tips of high speed tools.

Lanciato nel 1962, il Diastar aveva una cassa voluminosa e lucidata a specchio in carburo di tungsteno, materiale utilizzato in particolare per le punte di strumenti ad alta velocità di rotazione.
