New Releases – Fédérique Constant Perpetual Calendar designed by Peter Speake

British watchmaker Peter Speake and the Geneva-based brand unveil the latest addition to the Manufacture collection: a Perpetual Calendar housed in a 42-millimetre steel case. All of the displays have been skeletonised, as have the hands. Each component boasts its own lined finish; the gears of the perpetual calendar feature a circular satin finish and blued screws. The transparent caseback reveals the openwork oscillating weight characteristic of the Maison’s Manufacture movements. The words ‘Limited Edition 135 pieces’ are engraved on each timepiece.

Vintage ads - Longines (1939)

"Patented waterproof watch - Antishock device - Unbreakable crystal". This ad dating back to 1939 hints to more than just all-weather timepieces. The military-looking aircraft seen on the background is a reminder of the difficult times ahead, as Europe is on the verge of war. The chronograph on the left is equipped with the caliber 13ZN. The watch on the right looks very much like a number of timepieces supplied to the armies.

"Orologio impermeabile brevettato - Dispositivo antiurti - vetro infrangibile".

Designed by the Swiss contemporary artist Olivier Mosset, the watch evokes the look and feel of an automobile body with its metallic paint, black and glittering dial. The 42 mm case is in sand-blasted stainless steel with black PVD treatment. The shiny black lacquered dial is inlaid with silver glitter. The élaboré grade movement is based on the Sellita SW266-1 calibre.

Bruxelles 1958

New releases - Maurice de Mauriac Chrono Modern Grand Prix Zurich

In 1939, on the occasion of the Swiss National Exhibition, Zurich prepared itself to host a Grand Prix race. But the event was canceled due to the outbreak of World War II. The Zurich GP edition of the Chrono Modern is available in two different sizes (42 and 45mm). Its dial features the racing stripes and offers the choice of a numeral between 01 and 99.
